Where Can I Drive My Car on a Race Track in Germany?

Many of Hyundai Driving Experience's track events take place in Germany, offering you the chance to drive on some of Europe's most iconic circuits.

One of the most popular racetracks is the Nürburgring with its Nordschleife and Grand Prix circuit. In Germany, you have many other opportunities to drive yourself on a racetrack. These circuits are open to the public outside of official race days and test drives, allowing you to drive your own car on the track.

Find out in advance which vehicles are authorised. Motorhomes or vans are usually not allowed, nor are cars with large spoilers and aerodynamic components. Check with the respective operator about permitted vehicles and required documents (e.g., driving license, ID).

How Many Racetracks Are There in Germany?

Germany boasts numerous racetracks for different types of motorsport, hosting national and international racing series. Besides the Nürburgring with its legendary 'Green Hell', the Nordschleife and GP circuit, these include the Hockenheimring, Sachsenring, Lausitzring, the Spreewaldring south of Berlin, and Bilster Berg in North Rhine-Westphalia. There are also smaller tracks and test facilities used for special events or club racing.

Track Driving in Europe: Holidays at Racing Speed

After the races, the spirited Italian fans, known as Tifosi, are unstoppable and storm onto the track. Be sure to plan a few days in Milan, as the city has much more to offer than just petrol and adrenaline.

In Spain, the Circuit de Valencia, named after the late professional motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo, invites you to immerse yourself in the sound of powerful bikes and cars and get your adrenaline pumping along the race track. You can also enjoy Valencia's cultural and culinary highlights.

How Much Does Driving on the Racetrack in Your Own Car Cost?

The cost of driving on the race track in your own car varies. On the Nordschleife or Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring, a lap in your own car costs around €30-35 (£26-30), depending on the track you choose and the day of the week you want to drive. Are you a real racetrack enthusiast who wants to treat yourself and your car to regular laps on the track? In this case, it might even be worth buying a season ticket for around €3000 (~£2575).

Track Experience with High-Performance Models

You can experience the full power of the Hyundai N models most intensively during the Track Experience of the Hyundai Driving Experience. Which Racetrack is the Most Dangerous?

The Nordschleife is considered one of the most challenging racetracks in the world with its 73 corners, some of which are extremely tight, 20.832 kilometers in length, and big differences in altitude. Former Formula 1 racing driver Jackie Stewart gave it its characteristic nickname 'Green Hell'. However, other racetracks are also extremely demanding and potentially dangerous due to their high average speeds, including the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. The development of ever-faster racing cars, such as in Formula 1, also increases the potential dangers on the racetracks. The track in Monza has been repeatedly adapted, and the famous banked turns have been closed.
